The adoption date of the 2020 Massachusetts Electrical Code (527 CMR.12.00).

It appears that there is some confusion as to when it is to be enforced by municipal wiring inspectors.

As in the past 527 CMR 12.00 has its effective dated listed in rule 7 (see below). The effective date is December 31, 2019. There is no delay! All electrical work which has received a permit on or after January 1st 2020, is required (by state laws and regulations) to comply with the 2020 NEC as amended and adopted by the State Fire Marshall.

Rule 7.527 CMR 12.00 shall be effective on all installations for which a permit has been granted subsequent to December 31, 2019.

No one has the authority to locally delay implementation of the 2020 Code.
